PYLOS / Photography

Your image is not your print.

Manage editions, print variants and the history of every physical copy.

One photograph can exist through different sizes, materials, editions and individual prints. PYLOS keeps them connected — from the original work to the physical object in the world.

02The model

One image. Many physical lives.

The same photograph may be produced at different sizes, on different materials or within different editions. Those relationships matter.

Physical print

Every copy carries its marks.

The edition number, the signature, the pencil marks — each belongs to one physical object, not to the image.

03The individual print

03 / 15 is not a quantity.

It is a physical object.

It can be printed on a particular date. Signed. Exhibited.

Consigned to a gallery. Sold to one collector. Held by another party.

Stored somewhere else. Loaned years later.

Its edition number is only the beginning of its history.

04Three separate realities

Ownership is not location.

A print can belong to a collector, be held by a gallery and physically sit at an art fair in another city. PYLOS keeps those realities separate — and connected.

06Print variants

Size changes. The work stays connected.

PYLOS keeps each production variant connected to the same work while preserving the identity of every individual print.

07Relationships

A spreadsheet can store rows.

PYLOS keeps the relationships between them.

Rows are easy. Relationships become harder to maintain as a physical archive grows.
