PYLOS / Galleries

You may hold the work
without owning it.

Keep ownership, custody, location and history connected across every physical work.

Works arrive from artists, move through exhibitions and fairs, enter collections and sometimes return years later. PYLOS keeps the record attached to the work wherever it goes.

The identifier remains fixed. Everything else can change.

02Three different realities

Ownership is not custody.
And custody is not location.

A gallery may physically hold a work without owning it. The same work can then travel to an exhibition or fair without either fact changing. PYLOS keeps each state explicit.

03The work moves

The work moves.
The record moves with it.

One identifier follows the physical work from the studio to the institution. Consignment, exhibition, sale and loan are events in one continuous history — not new records.

The identity remains. Circumstances change.

04One archive

One gallery. Many works.
Many histories.

Every work keeps its own identity and history while belonging to one gallery archive.

05Editions

Keep every individual
copy distinct.

A production variant is shared. Its individual physical units are not interchangeable. Each keeps its own owner, custodian, location and history.

06The physical world

Built around the object.

Crates, labels, racks, verso marks and foundry marks — the record begins with the work itself, not with a spreadsheet row.

07A different centre of gravity

Not a CRM with
artworks attached.

PYLOS starts with the work itself — its identity, physical state and history — rather than treating artworks as records attached to a sales database.

08Existing archives

Already have a gallery archive?
Bring it with you.

Already managing artworks in another database or spreadsheet? We're building PYLOS so structured records can move with you without rebuilding your archive from zero. During beta, we can work directly with selected galleries to understand and migrate existing archives.

09Early access

Help shape PYLOS for galleries.

PYLOS is being built around the real life of physical artworks. We're looking to work closely with a small number of galleries to understand how works move between artists, storage, exhibitions, fairs and collectors.

Every work has a history.
Keep it connected.
